Khata for neighbourhood shops, kept on the till

TajerGo records every credit sale and repayment against the customer’s khata account at the till, so the shop knows who owes what and for how long. Each account and its credit limit is approved by a manager, a sale that would pass the limit can be blocked at the till, and the aging report puts the oldest balances first.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Open an account for a regular

Add the customer, their phone number and a credit limit. Families, building staff and small offices nearby all fit the same pattern.

A customer’s khata account with its balance and aging.
  2. Sell on credit at the till

Choose khata as the payment. The receipt and the customer ledger show the same sale, so there is no second notebook.

The sale is rung up as usual, then put on the customer’s account.
  3. Hold the line at the limit

A manager approves each new account and its limit. With limit blocking on, a sale that would take the customer past it is stopped at the till instead of going through quietly.

A new khata account waits for a manager to approve its limit.
  4. Collect, record and read the aging

Take full or part payments. The balance updates at once, and the aging report shows which accounts have been open longest.

A payment is recorded and the balance shrinks.

What you can do

  • Credit sales at the till

Put a sale on a named customer without leaving the checkout screen.

  • Credit limits and approvals

A manager approves each account and its limit, and sales above the limit can be blocked.

  • Part payments

Log a partial repayment and keep a clean running balance.

  • Aging by days outstanding

Balances are grouped by age, so the riskiest accounts come first.

  • Customer statements

Prepare a statement of sales and payments for a team member to review before it is shared.

Frequently asked questions

What is khata in a UAE shop?

Khata is the credit account a grocery or corner shop keeps for regular customers who pay later. TajerGo keeps it on the till instead of in a notebook.

Can I stop a customer going over their credit limit?

Yes. Turn on limit blocking and a credit sale that would pass the customer’s approved limit is stopped at the till.

Is khata included in the Free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes basic POS, inventory, reports and khata.

Do credit sales still carry my TRN?

Yes. A credit sale prints the receipt with the TRN and VAT details you set, and the balance goes to the customer’s account.
