How to close a shift

A shift close counts the cash, flags any variance and leaves a handover record. Run it at the end of every service so the till reconciles and everyone knows who closed it.

  • 5 steps

Before you start

  • The drawer’s opening float
  • Permission to close shifts, or a manager on hand for exceptions

Step by step

  1. Open shift close

At the end of service, choose Close Shift on the till.

  2. Count the cash

Enter the counted cash. TajerGo compares it with the expected drawer, including the float and recorded cash movements.

  3. Review the variance

Any difference is flagged. Add a note for each exception.

  4. Approve exceptions

Exceptions wait for the manager approval your role rules require. Complete it before you close.

  5. Confirm handover

Confirm to create the handover record for the next shift.

If something looks wrong

  • The count does not matchCheck the opening float, cash payments and recorded cash movements, then add a note.
  • You cannot finish the closeAn exception may be waiting for manager approval.
