Restaurants & cafés: shift close

Restaurant shift close: count, compare, hand over

TajerGo ends each restaurant shift with a cash count compared with the cash expected from recorded sales, flags any variance and keeps a Z report naming who closed it. Each till closes on its own and rolls up to the branch. Refunds, voids and overrides carry a reason, and credit sales sit in khata so they never look like missing cash.

A cash drawer is counted against expected cash and card totals, then the shift closes

Step by step

How it works

  1. Count the drawer

The cashier counts cash at the end of the shift; card totals come from the recorded payments.

The drawer counted against expected cash and card totals
  2. Compare with expected

TajerGo compares the count with the cash expected from sales in that shift and flags the difference.

Card and cash payments that make up the expected totals
  3. Explain the exceptions

Refunds, voids and overrides already carry a reason, so the manager checks them before blaming the float.

Refunds and overrides with their reasons, waiting for review
  4. Hand over the Z report

The close names who closed it, credit sales sit in khata, and the next shift starts from a clean drawer.

Credit taken in the shift held in the khata ledger

What you can do

  • Counted against expected

Cash counted versus cash expected from recorded orders.

  • Each till on its own

Tills close separately and roll up, so one gap is not hidden in a total.

  • Z report and handover

Every close keeps the person who closed it and the totals.

  • Reasons on refunds and voids

Exceptions are on the record before the count starts.

  • Roles decide who closes

Choose which roles can close a shift or approve an exception.

Frequently asked questions

How is restaurant cash variance calculated?

TajerGo compares the counted cash with the cash expected from sales recorded in the shift and flags the difference at close.

Can each till close separately?

Yes. Each till closes on its own and rolls up to the shift and branch view.

Does a variance prove a cashier made a mistake?

No. It is a prompt to check refunds, voids and the float before acting.

Is shift close an extra cost?

No. Shift close is part of the POS on every plan.
